About the Conductive Education Center of Orlando

Since 2001, The Conductive Education Center of Orlando (CECO) has been providing hope for families with children and adults with cerebral palsy and neurological motor disabilities that have been searching for a place where the impossible IS possible. CECO offers eight programs to address every age group for these lifelong conditions, so progress is continually a goal!

Conductive Education is a multidisciplinary approach to achieve each individual’s greatest level of independence through physical, cognitive and social activities. CECO is the only conductive education program in the state of Florida and one of the largest programs in the United States.

CECO’s primary goal is to increase the physical, social, and academic independence of people with motor disabilities and currently serves over 100 families from around the world each year.

Job Summary: CECO is searching for a teacher for our Exceptional Students. The ESE Teacher provides individualized and small-group instruction for students with disabilities, supporting their academic, physical, cognitive, and social development. The teacher incorporates Conductive Education principles, collaborates with families and the instructional team, and helps students work toward greater independence in a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

Job Summary: CECO offers college students a unique, hands-on internship experience working with children and adults diagnosed with cerebral palsy. This program is ideal for undergraduate students pursuing degrees in related fields. Interns gain 200 hours of direct, hands-on experience, building practical skills in a supportive, real-world environment. Upon completion, participants receive a Certificate of Completion and may have opportunities for future employment with CECO. Interns are expected to commit 10–12 hours per week and must be able to pass a VECHS Level 2 background check before starting. This role also requires the physical ability to kneel, stand, bend, crouch, and assist with lifting, pushing, and pulling students and objects up to 60 lbs.

Job Summary: This is a career growth opportunity for individuals already gaining experience at CECO. This is not a position that can be applied for directly.

CECO’s Conductive Education Instructor pathway is designed for interns and assistants who want to build a long-term career in Conductive Education.

Individuals must first complete at least 200 hours at CECO as an intern or assistant. After completing 200 hours, those interested in pursuing Conductive Education as a career can express interest in entering CECO’s five-semester Conductive Education Training Program.

The program combines coursework with paid practical experience at CECO. Upon successful completion, participants earn their CECO Conductive Education Certification and can advance into a Conductive Education Instructor role, with the opportunity to teach and lead their own classroom.

   Training Program

  • Five-semester training program

  • 2-3 courses completed each semester

  • Courses available in person or online

  • Paid practical experience at CECO

  • CECO Conductive Education Certification upon completion

  • Opportunity to become a Conductive Education Instructor and lead your own classroom

   Qualifications

  • Must first complete 200 hours at CECO as an intern or assistant

  • Must complete the five-semester Conductive Education Training Program

  • Passion for working with children and adults with neurological motor disabilities

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to participate in hands-on physical activities and classroom programming

  • Commitment to learning and applying Conductive Education principles

  • Desire to build a long-term career at CECO
