CECO offers college students the opportunity to work hands-on with children and adults diagnosed with neurological motor disabilities, such as cerebral palsy. A majority of CECO’s interns are undergraduate students pursuing degrees in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Early Childhood Education, Exceptional Student Education (ESE), Psychology, Pre-Medicine, and related fields.

This internship is ideal for individuals who are ambitious, self-motivated, enjoy working with children and adults, and are seeking experience with a diverse population. It is especially valuable for those interested in gaining hands-on experience working with individuals with motor disabilities.
​
CECO proudly partners with local universities, including the University of Central Florida, Rollins College, Full Sail University, Valencia College, Daytona State College, Keiser University, and AdventHealth University.
​
Candidates should have a minimum of one semester of college coursework or one year of hands-on experience. A VECHS Level 2 background check is required before starting. During the academic year, interns commit to 6–8 hours per week, while summer interns commit to 10–12 hours per week. This role also requires the physical ability to kneel, stand, bend, crouch, carry, and assist with pushing, pulling, and lifting students or objects.

After completing 200 hours at CECO, interns receive a Certificate of Completion and may be eligible for a Letter of Recommendation, fast-track employment opportunities, and continued growth within the organization!

Growing Into a Lead Assistant Role
The Lead Assistant position is a potential advancement opportunity for support staff who demonstrate strong performance, reliability, leadership, and alignment with CECO’s educational methods.
​
Lead Assistants work closely with Instructors in day-to-day programming, help mentor newer assistants and interns, assist with classroom transitions and routines, and take on additional responsibilities. Lead Assistants also earn a higher hourly rate.
​
While six months of experience at CECO is a general guideline, advancement is based on an individual’s overall experience, competency, performance, and demonstrated readiness. CECO may recommend support staff for the role, and individuals interested in becoming a Lead Assistant are encouraged to speak with their Instructor and CECO leadership about developing toward the opportunity.
​
Lead Assistants must be available to work full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, and commit to working with CECO for at least one year. Promotion is based on demonstrated readiness and current program needs.
​
The Lead Assistant role is a great opportunity to build leadership skills, take on greater responsibility, and continue growing at CECO.

CECO’s Conductive Education Instructor Training Program
Turn Your Experience Into a Career!

For individuals who discover a passion for Conductive Education and want to make it their long-term career, CECO offers an exciting career growth opportunity through our five-semester Conductive Education Training Program.
​
After completing at least 200 hours at CECO as an intern or assistant, individuals can express their interest in entering the training program and taking the next step toward becoming a Conductive Education Instructor.
And the best part? The training includes paid practical experience at CECO! Participants continue gaining valuable hands-on classroom experience while completing their coursework and developing the skills needed to become an instructor.

The five-semester program includes:

CECO Conductive Education Certification upon successful completion

Once the training program is successfully completed and certification is earned, participants can advance into a Conductive Education Instructor role with the opportunity to teach and lead their own classroom!
