March Blog - A Month Full of Meaning

CECO celebrated Conductive Education Day on February 19th, and it was a fantastic day of outdoor Conductive Education games! Our students and participants practiced purposeful movement while laughing, cheering each other on, and enjoying time together!

As the largest Conductive Education center in the United States, we are proud to provide high-quality programming while also helping our community better understand what Conductive Education is and why it matters. Through structured routines, repetition, and the encouragement that comes from working in groups, Conductive Education helps individuals develop fine motor skills, improve mobility and balance, increase flexibility and movement, and strengthen communication, speech, and social skills. Together, these skills help individuals with neurological motor disabilities build confidence, gain independence, and reach their fullest potential!

March is an especially meaningful month for our community because it is National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month! Cerebral Palsy affects more than 17 million people worldwide and is the most common motor disability in childhood. At CECO, approximately 80 percent of the children, young adults, and adults we serve have CP. That is why this month is especially meaningful to our students, participants, families, and staff. Throughout March, people wear green and share the hashtag #GoGreen4CP to show support, spread awareness, and celebrate the strength and determination of individuals living with Cerebral Palsy! On March 25th, communities across the country recognize National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day, a time to celebrate progress and continue educating others.

At CECO, we see progress every day. Our students and participants continue to inspire us with their hard work, resilience, and achievements. During National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, we celebrate all of our participants and reaffirm our commitment to helping every individual discover what is possible.

Every student and participant’s journey is unique at our Center! Every student works daily on sitting, standing/walking, and communication, but the approach is individualized. Progress can look small to an outside observer, but to our families, those steps are monumental! More than anything, CECO is a place where families find encouragement, connection, and support. We celebrate every milestone, big or small, and walk alongside our students and participants every step of the way. This month and every month, we celebrate their perseverance, their growth, and the incredible things they accomplish each and every day.

Awareness is so powerful because it leads to understanding, and inclusion becomes intentional. This month, we encourage you to learn more. Ask questions, share information. Support organizations that serve individuals with disabilities. Small actions build stronger communities!
